Quality Management System
As a business organisation made up of professionals, quality
and ethics have always featured strongly in the Constitution and Code
of Conduct of the South African Association of Consulting Engineers.
During the November 2002 AGM, it was proposed and unanimously agreed,
that the concept of Quality Management be included in the Code of Conduct,
with a requirement that member firms implement and maintain such a system
within their practice, as a condition of membership. Members were given
until 2006 to effect this requirement. The CESA Directorate is currently
working toward an ISO 9001:2000 certification.
Included here is an advisory note on Implementing
and Maintaining a Quality Management System as well as a list of QMS
Consultants and links to other QMS organisations.
A set of FIDIC documentation “Quality Management in the Consulting
Engineering Industry” is available for purchase from the Association.
This documentation is an interpretation of the ISO 9001:2000 requirements
for quality management for a consulting engineering firm and forms an
excellent guideline, together with the Quality Management workshops presented
by The CESA School of Consulting Engineering.
